Yes. Calvin and Hobbes reference in the title. Yay.
Anyway, as you may have guessed, this week we made Lentil Soup. Twice. Two different recipes. Like the last time they weren't really "gourmet" and "convenience" recipes, and their only similarities involved lentils and onions, but I must still compare them despite their differences.
RECIPE #1: LENTIL SLUDGE
Yeah. I think you already know my opinion on this one from the heading. It was indeed "sludge". I would say that it was sludge in both texture and taste, but the truth is it had no taste at all. Period. Bland as bland can be. It was not exactly easy to make and although it didn't taste bad and probably was quite nutritious, I can not say I would ever want to make this again. At least not with that amount of seasoning.
RECIPE #2: CURRIED RICE AND LENTILS
My opinion of this recipe is somewhat better. It actually had a taste, unlike the last one, and a good taste at that. It was the same difficulty to make, so no comments there... Unfortunately we didn't have enough curry, but it still tasted good. It had a decent texture, too. I would probably make this again, given the chance.
Thanks for your recipe evaluation. Next time remind me that your group should get first dibs on the spices!
